Have you ever tuned into a radio and then heard a song that seemed to summarize your love life? A song that made you say “deng! I can relate to this!” A song that made you emote and cry or laugh and be kilig. Most of the time a song becomes popular because of the tune.. but some songs, those hand picked ones become timeless favorites both by those who are inlove, who wants to be inlove and those who just came out of love.
I do have a few songs in mind I wont give the lyrics, you can search them in youtube or download it wherever but ill try to introduce them to you, though im pretty sure you might know them all by heart already :)

A very special love by Maureen McGovern revived by Sarah Geronimo

In this song a girl (based on the vocalist) seemed to have got her heart broken a lot of times already, she's been hurt, never believing in love again, until she met this guy that changed all her perceptions about love, in other words she has found a very special love, a love that is different from the past ones, though I can't really say that its a perfect love but its the one that makes you feel like a complete woman, that makes you feel comfortable, a love that makes you feel that you always have someone to return to. The lines that I like here is:

“you're not like the rest, you are one of the best, you give more than you should and ask nothing in return. Stay always with me and I will always be the person you can always count on to love you.”

IF ever I find a guy that is different from everyone else, the one who would change on how I view things (on the positive side) the one that would make me feel secure and the one that wouldn't make me feel that I need to compete with anyone else. There is only one thing that I would do, I would never ever let go.

Walang Kapalit by Rey Valera revived by Papa Piolo Pascual

A sad song, though the guy (based on the vocalist) seemed to be in an emotional mood, he is happy because he has offered his selfless love to the girl, waiting ever patiently for his love to come back to him. He doesn't hold any grudge on the girl, all he asks is for the girl not to stop him from loving her, even from afar... he understands the pain that is part of love, he acknowledges the fact that he might not have a happy ending but, the hope is still there, it's like as long as his heart is beating, it would beat for her and for her alone.

“ at kung hindi man dumating sa akin ang panahon na ako ay mahalin mo din, asahan mong hindi ako magdadamdam kahit ako ay nasasaktan, wag mo lang ipag kait, na ikaw ay aking... mahalin...”

I admire this sense of selflessness, its a hard thing to experience a one-sided-love, some people expect, expectations lead to frustrations which inturn leads to depression and ends up in numbness and fear, then the cycle repeats itself... but in this song, there is no expectations, only hope, hope that true love will prevail. Though the description of true love does vary, one thing can be said, that a love that has hope is worth it, a love that has respect is priceless, and a love that is pure is lasts.

Ako'y iyong iyo by Regine Velasquez

A woman who defied the odds when it comes to love, theres a hundred of reasons to just give up but she find a hundred and one more why she should stay. Actually she doesnt need any reason to stay, she just loves the guy and thats a good enough reason to stay :) Something happened, she admitted that its her fault and now she is trying to reassure the guy that she is true and loyal to him. Though the tune of the song is semi-upbeat you can still sense the sincerety behind the words of apology and the promises of loyalty.

I know that when trust is already broken, it would be very hard to put it back again. But every one deserves to have a second chance... and a few deserve to have more than a second one. The song made me feel that lovers should adjust to what ever situation they are in, ofcourse they say “if you love him/her you shouldnt try to change how they act” but for me its different, If you love him then you yourself would change for him, and in return he would also adapt to you. Love would not make things harder, instead it would make things much simpler, “ I forgive you, please forgive me, I love you and lets not make the same mistake again.” :)

A love song... its like a poem with a tune, simple, enjoyable and catchy but special because it has meaning, it has sense, it has experience and it has a heart. A heart that cries, a heart that gets flattered and a heart that beats with life.
